Media and applications release. 0.6.0 brought media2 close to full operation; 0.6.3 builds the applications on top of it, adds a package manager and a web browser, and fills in hardware support.

  • MediaPlayer rewritten on media2, with the classic UX: fullscreen, audio-only mode, keyboard controls and file info.
  • Cortex, a media graph app with a live graph window.
  • MediaConverter, Camera and SoundRecorder ported to media2. Camera offers the resolutions the device supports.
  • media2 gains BMediaDecoder and BMediaEncoder, a video splitter, and the Equalizer add-on. The Hardware section of the Media preflet is enabled.
  • NetPlus, a new web browser built on the web kit.
  • PackageManager, a package manager over apt, with changelog and content views for installed packages.
  • DriveSetup rebuilt on a partition plan engine, including Wipe.
  • Power preflet with battery status, brightness hotkeys, and per-output enable and saved display profiles in Screen.
  • Joysticks work through BJoystick over evdev.
  • app_server falls back to the installed script fonts, including CJK.
  • janus keeps the user's session through janus_session.
  • libroot2 detects stale semaphore, port and area ids, and handles interrupted waits correctly.
  • UEFI boot for amd64 images, more boards in the image builder (VisionFive 2, BeaglePlay, Raspberry Pi mainline console), and riscv64 boot fixes.
  • Lots of small fixes.
